Self-portrait (collage)

The basis for this woodcut print was a selfie photo, which was then converted to a computer linear raster and printed on Fabriano paper in Prussian blue. I then partially intervened (part of the face) in the woodcut print and turned it into a collage of squares (pixels). In this particular work I was interested how the explosion of digital photography, social media and selfie culture is affecting people's sense of identity, as well as different perceptions of self-worth, image and beauty.
