Bosques del sur II

This work is part of a series about the Andes Mountains of Chile, which covers a large “cordilleran zone”, where forests, mountains, rivers and volcanoes coexist.

This woodcut is inspired by the native forests in southern Chile, in the Andes mountain range. They are forests found in the Parque Nacional Huerquehue, (Huerquehue: “Place of messengers”) in the mapuche language, original town of this area.

My work explores the power of nature. I am interested in representing its monumentality as well as reveal their own fragility over time, in the face of the permanent threat of human intervention.
