Night Thoughts

From encountering the ghost of a woman in Sweden in 2004 dressed in period costume I have made many images of women from European Portrait Painting whose lives and presence mean far more to me in recreating them as shadow reflections of their former selves. They could be described as temporal investigations into how the past continually haunts the present in a very real way. I have on occasion blended these figures into a new persona that hovers in stillness, as if awaiting a moment to become real which of course never can arrive.
