Béatrice Carlson

I am an interdisciplinary artist with a fashion design background:
I solder/stitch Sterling and discarded porcelain with hand cut can teardrops, imperfect Freshwater Pearls or raw gemstone I cut/polish.

I stitch Washi paper I have embossed and made string with too.
I make my paper from New Zealand Harakeke or other fibre.
I use a pasta machine to print with beer cans or tetrapacks.

My work has evolved to objects and adornment pieces with the emphasis on recycling and the use of every natural resource possible.

I like working with found objects , mostly mudlark for porcelain shards on our shores.
Everything is photographed, documented for provenance, circa, material.

My work is about reducing compulsive consumption by repurposing and rethinking the notion of preciousness…

Wabi Sabi, circular sustainability, slow-made.
