Mother and child

This artwork, from the Waste Land series and titled The Crown of Illusion, examines the maternal role and the challenges of internal despotism. The woman and child are depicted within a checkered, enclosed space, symbolizing a controlled, deceptive framework. The heavy crown represents autocratic power and crushing responsibility, transforming caregiving into a small but devastating tyranny. This structure holds the child/follower in the illusion of life, ultimately leading both to the brink of ruin, while the light and open door in the background serve as the sole sign of hope and the possibility of change within this flawed environment.
